It was so dry that the majority of the mushrooms on the ID table were hard as rocks.
We had the good sense to use the small area for the mushrooms and the long table for wine and hors d’oeuvres. Sofya and Noam Zharnitsky found the only bolete of the foray, and it was a beauty: a two- to three-pound B. pinophilus, absolutely firm with white tubes. Amazing!
Olga and Archie Ostrovsky came back with a good quantity of Suillus brevipes. See the species list below, nonetheless far more notable for its brevity than its brevipes.
Many thanks to all who helped with cooking, dishes, and cleaning. We couldn’t do it without you, and it certainly wouldn’t be as much fun!
