In Memory of Herb Saylor

He influenced so many amateurs and even spurred many to get a college degree. This includes Dr. Dennis Desjardin and several other Ph.D's in mycology. He spent his spare money buying taxonomy books for the graduate students at SFSU and twice served as President of the MSSF. He was constantly teaching about mushroom taxonomy and microscopy, leading forays and talking about the fungi to anyone who would listen. He was an expert on the corals and hypogeous fungi, but well rounded in all areas and one of the most knowledgeable amateurs in North America.

Herb was loved and respected by all and he will be sadly missed.
