Don't Forget Mushrooms Just Because It’s Summer!

On the way out I spotted two Princes (Agaricus augustus), both pristine, with gills still whitish. Surprising because the cap diameter of the larger was just under 12”.

Last weekend we found a few Hydnum repandum at Point Reyes. And Darvin De Shazer, who spent the day at Salt Point, came back with some Cantharellus roseocanus (rainbow chanterelles). Keep an eye out for big Sulfur Shelfs; because they get their moisture from trees, they come before the rains, usually with overcast skies. And remember your favorite graveyard for Agaricus bernardii!
