Saturday Habitat Hike

What’s a habitat walk, you say? It’s an amazing opportunity to explore one of our region’s most diverse ecosystems and all of the tree-fungi relationships supported in it. Quail Hollow Ranch County Park uniquely boasts four different biotic communities including redwood forest, mixed evergreen forest, chaparral, and closed-cone pine forest, and we will explore them all on our 5.8-mile hike. Along the way, we will identify trees and ecosystems and which fungi we would expect to see in each. We will also highlight medicinal properties and traditional uses of many plant species we encounter. Foraging is not allowed in Quail Hollow Ranch so we won’t be able to gather mushrooms or plants on this hike, but what we will learn will prepare us for our future foraging escapades. Grab your ticket now, spots will fill up!

Hope to see you there, Vega
