These Hygrocybe were growing in a mix of mostly Bay Laurel and Oak, in the Santa Cruz Mountains near Los Gatos. Being the first time I encountered the "Scarlet Waxy Cap", I was mesmerized by their beautiful color, and taking pictures of them started my path in mushroom photography.
